The Seguines Find a "Home for Sharing"

Ralph and Peg Seguine

Peg and Ralph Seguine are a social and active couple. One of the first of our resident twosomes to move into Creamery Brook Retirement Village eight years ago, the Seguines value family and tradition. Moving into Creamery Brook allowed the Seguines to not only remain close to their family, but to also continue hosting their annual Thanksgiving dinner for a large group of family and friends.

"For the last few years, we've held our family's Thanksgiving meal in Creamery Brook's community room. The dietary staff not only cooks the whole meal, but caters it as well," explained Peg one recent afternoon. "We have about 20 family and friends come, and it is always a wonderful time and meal. Best of all, we don't have to cook or do the dishes."

Living at Creamery Brook enables the Seguines to continue pursuing their own interests and hobbies without the burden of home upkeep. Ralph, a retired minister and once the administrator for Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, leads Classic Movie Night on Tuesday evenings and a Bible sharing group on Thursday evenings. Peg often plays the piano during Friday evening's sing-a-long and is editor of Creamery Brook's resident newsletter.

"Our family is so happy that Ralph and I found a place that is home to us and is so close by," said Peg. "This really fits our needs. Creamery Brook has all the advantages of home without the responsibilities of upkeep. Plus, we are free to do what we want when we want. There is always something going on, or we can enjoy the quiet of our apartment."

But for the Seguines, what truly makes Creamery Brook "home" isn't their two-bedroom apartment or the wealth of activities and amenities, it's the ability to live close to family and friends and to continue meaningful traditions, such as their annual Thanksgiving dinner.

"Living here allows us to continue hosting our Thanksgiving tradition, which means a lot," concluded Ralph. "For Peg and me, Creamery Brook is more than a home for living, it's a home for sharing."
